The last section of the gospel of John is largely centered on a discussion between Jesus & his disciples on the night before his crucifixion. After Jesus' arrest, trial, crucifixion, death, and resurrection John ends his gospel with an epilogue that gives his reason for writing his gospel account, namely, "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." (Jn. 20:31).
