I became a believer one year ago and I’ve never looked back. Simply put, my life has been completely transformed. I was raised in the Catholic Church and was baptized as a baby. I never understood the significance of baptism through that experience because I was not able to have awareness.
In my adult life I have been around more Christians and had the privilege to ask them about their baptism. When I heard stories about people uniting their lives with Christ through baptism, I knew that was something I wanted to do. I have heard of its transformative power and significance in people’s lives. I’ve also turned to scripture and seen baptism mentioned time and time again.
Romans 6:4, “We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
When I have read what scripture says about baptism I immediately felt my spirit drawn to have that experience. In baptism I want to lay down my life in the flesh to death and I want to raise a new life with Christ. I want to be able to let go of Earthly things and lay down my life for Christ. I want Him to take the lead and guide me to where He wants to take me. I am a new person when I have found life with Christ and my baptism is an outward symbol of that unity.
