William was baptized in December 2022. If you have interest in getting baptized at Hope Community Church, you can learn more by visiting hopecc.com/baptism.
I grew up in the church, and I would say that my beliefs about Christianity have been fairly consistent all my life. Even so, I saw myself in a rut; I was stagnant in my faith until college. I knew growth was good and right, but the desire was not there. For baptism in particular, opportunities always seemed like they came at an inconvenient time, or I thought that this public declaration wouldn’t matter since I felt immature in my faith at the time. Though it was just an excuse, I thought I would put off my own baptism until I could take my faith more seriously.
Since joining the Navigators at the University of Minnesota, I have been challenged and encouraged to grow in my faith, and this has built upon the foundation of belief that I had before. Because of this, the desire to get baptized grew. The old excuses for putting it off are gone. I am grateful that God has put me where I am, because I now want to obey the command in Acts 2:38, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you,” unlike before.
