The book of 2 Peter calls believers to believe the “more sure” truth of the gospel as the antidote to sin and safeguard against corrupt teaching. False teachers within the church erroneously claimed a sinful lifestyle was permitted due to their “freedom in Christ” and that there’d be no return of Christ in judgment. Peter claims such teachers were “slaves of sin and corruption”. As believers, we must recognize such dangerous teachings and instead “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!”
