Matthew was baptized in fall 2022 at our annual kick-off. If you have interest in getting baptized at Hope Community Church, you can learn more by visiting hopecc.com/baptism.
I grew up in the church but didn’t really understand what Jesus had done for me until I went through confirmation. After that, I was intentional about staying in community, whether that be youth group or a campus ministry in college, through which I grew a lot in my walk with Jesus.
I was baptized as a baby and didn’t think much more of baptism until coming to Hope and specifically this last Easter’s baptism service where Chris Miller was baptized. A wave of emotion came over me and all I could do was cry because it was beautiful. After that, there were a few other times where baptism was talked about in the sermons. I talked with Davis and my roommates and felt like it was the correct decision to get baptized.
A verse that has been meaningful to me is Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
